Glass Bottles And A Detour

Okay. So one of my New Year's goals is to become more organized and disciplined in my daily activities. So, I bought a planner, mapped out my week, and each day. Down to morning, afternoon, and evening activities.

And I have done really well this week. Except yesterday.

I did start out good. I mean, I did get the house straightened up in the morning, and my weight lifting done. But the afternoon all planned out to organize closets and read, well, I TOTALLY blew it.

I got REALLY distracted...

I finished up my weight lifting, and then decided to cool off by taking a walk through the woods. So I let my sidekick out (aka my dog Kaia), and set out across the ditch in our backyard. And these caught my eyes.

Gorgeous, old, glass bottles, just laying there! :D

So I walked over, picked up what few I saw, toted them back to the house, came back, and look!

There were more. This lover of old, vintagey things was in heaven! :D

After another run back to the house for a bag, a rake, and two hours of scratching around in the dirt later, this is what I ended up with. :)

I will admit, I am not totally sure what I am going to do with all of them. (hello Pinterest time)

I want to put them to use, but wow do I love that mossy, dirty look. :D

So much for being disciplined and sticking to my schedule!

But I think it was a wonderfully blessed detour in my day. :)

Any surprise detours in you day?

Have a wonderfully blessed day everyone! Thanks for stopping by!
Angel

  2. Wow!!! You absolutely hit the jackpot - those are so beautiful and amazing!! A dear friend of mine used to live in a tiny bungalow with her husband, and my very favorite feature of her house was her huge collection of beautiful, colorful glass bottles - she didn't do a thing with them, just set them in windowsills where they would catch the sunlight, and they gave the rest of her eclectic house such character and charm. And don't forget, you can always fill them with flowers and branches!! :-D

Definitely a worthy distraction and a wonderful and productive way to relax on a Friday afternoon. I'm so glad you took the time to hunt up this treasure!

Love to you, Angel, and have a wonderful weekend!

    Hugs,
    Vicki

  3. My son used to collect old glass bottles. They are very hard to clean and he found the best way to clean them was to use toilet bowl cleaner! I didn't know he was using that until a long while later, but it did work ;)
