Random Ramblings of My Weekend

Good day friends and family! I pray that you are all having a wonderful day in the Lord. It’s such a beautiful day in my part of NC. The sky is that beautiful shade of Carolina Blue, the sun is shining gloriously bright, and all the flowers and trees are blooming beautifuly. Thank-you Lord for this beautiful spring day!

Its been a pretty average sort of week on the homestead. I’ve been busy with the daily washing of clothes, and the usual housework I try to help my mom keep up. I got a bit slack this weekend with the clothes, so now I have a mountain to take care of the next few days. I normally try to keep them up, but this weekend I wasn’t feeling all that great.

Friday morning, I started to feel tired and weak, along with body aches. I did not want to do anything that day, but lay around (which I hate doing normally). Then that night my temperature was 100. I woke up Saturday morning feeling much the same. I was able, with the assistance of ibuprofen, to help my parents plant some of our corn. But by the end of the day I was wore slam out.

Thankfully, I felt better yesterday, and was able to attend church. This is a revival week for us. We are having an evangelist from a christian college in the state, preach for us. I so enjoyed yesterdays sermons. They were on contentment and bitterness.

He was saying, that the only way we are going to be able to experience true revival is to be content with what the Lord has given us and not to be bitter against anything or anyone. God can’t work in a heart that harbors bitternes and discontent. By being that way, we aren’t truly letting Him in, and allowing Him to use us for His glory. Only when we let go of bitterness and discontent, can true revival occur in our hearts. Lord, help me to remember that this week, and beyond.

I haven’t talked much about my chickens latley have I? Well, they are all doing quite well. Chocolate is still her usual independent self, along with her sister Talladega. The bad children are still as mischievous as ever. That’s why they currently cannot come out of their yard.

Last year my mama bought about 15 brocolli plants from the local nursery, and left them outside until it was time to plant them. She decided to just leave them on the ground, thinking that the bad children would not go near them. But guess what? As soon as we let them out, the devoured every last plant. My mom never found out, until she went to plant them. Needless to say, she was not to happy with them.

So this year she does not intend to let the little heathens out until the plants she and daddy planted this weekend are big enough to not worry about them. Along with the corn and potatos.

My five little chicks are doing very well. They have "adopted" me as their mom. When ever I come around to their box, they start cheeping loudly, and try to jump out to get me. And when I do let them out, they jump right up in my lap and make themselves comfy. It’s so cute. They won’t be little for long, so I’m enjoying it now.

Here are their names, and how they got them, in case you are wondering: Maybelline- A beautiful Ameracuana with a dark rim around her eyes. She looks like she is wearing Maybelline make-up. Elsie- An Ameracauna, that my sister names after a charcater in one of her favorite book series. Lydia- An Ameracauna, that my mom named after Lydia in Pride and Prejudice. Sandy- A Rhode Island Red, that my brother named, not sure about the name origin. The Nameless One- We believe this one is a rooster, so we thought it would be wise not to name it, since it won’t be staying long, if you know what I mean.

Oh! I almost forgot! My aunt had her baby Friday. A little girl named Alyssa. We are so happy for her and my uncle. Can’t wait to see the baby next week! Congrats ya’ll!

Well, I need to go now. It’s time for supper and to get ready for revival.

Hope you have a great day in the Lord. Thanks for stopping by!

Long Time, No Post. Sorry!!!

Good day friends and family! It’s a beautiful spring day here in my part of NC. The sun is shining brightly and the temperature is about 60. Absolutly perfect. Thank-you Lord!

Whew! It sure has been a busy week or so. Sorry I have not posted in a while, but I have had so much going on I haven’t had much time to. I think this upcoming week will be a bit slower, but we’ll see.

So what have I been up to? Well, about two weeks ago we added some new additions to the family. Take a guess what they are? Don’t know? I’ll tell you then, chickens! Chicks to be exact. And they are so adorable!

We now have two Rhode Island Reds and three Ameracaunas. The Ameracaunas are supposed to be pullets (girls under a year old) and the Reds straight-run (meaning we have no idea what they are yet). They have all been named (Maybelline, Lydie, Elsie, Sandy, and Brownie) and are doing quite well in their new home. They already have their wing feathers growing in!

Along with the babies, I had to finish up my optometric/opthalmic assistant class. Wow, did I have alot of material to cover. All the terms and procedures made my head spin there for awhile. But I took my final exam last Monday and passed it with a 98. Thank-you Lord!

As glad as I am about passing the class, I am a still a bit sad it is over. I have so enjoyed going everyweek and getting to know some sweet, and kind women. Everyone was so nice. Another great thing is that most of them profess to be Christians, and showed it well. I will be keeping in contact with them all. Gonna miss ya’ll! Love ya’!

So that leaves me now to look for a job. I have sent in several resumes( it took me about a week to get that done) to about 5 different offices so far, and plan on sending in some more in the coming days. So please keep me in prayer about that. Please Lord show me where to go, and let it be where you want me.

Today was a special day. Me and my mom, my sis, and my little brother went to our homeschool capital fest. We got to tour all the museums and see downtown Raleigh. It was alot of fun. Except when I saw how much that God has been taken out of everything.

All the history dates had BCE, and millions and billions of years ago. I was disgusted. It’s just so sad how they have taken Christ out of everything. Our country was built on Christian values, but no one cares anymore. God will judge this country soon. I just pray that everyone will see what they are doing is wrong, and turn to the Lord and repent before it is too late.

I just can’t get over how pretty everything is starting to look. All the trees are begining to bud, along with the flowers. The dogwoods ought to be gorgeous in week or so. They have little, tiny buds just starting to pop out. I can’t wait for them to completly bloom. I love dogwood trees.

Well, I need to go now. I have a bit of cleaning to do this evening.

So, I pray that you have a wonderful day in the Lord! Thanks for stopping by!

Hope and Spring Are In The Air

Good day friends and family! I pray that you are all having a wonderful day in the Lord. It’s a beautiful day here in my part of NC. The temperature out is 75 and is so bright and sunny. It has been like this since Friday.

Halleluja! The Lord has answered my prayers, I haven’t shivered in a whole three days. I just only pray that it lasts awhile. The weather man is calling for it to be 50 this weekend. But he has been wrong before. The Lord is the only one who truly knows what its going to be from one day to the next. Spring may be here to stay.

Well, we had a busy weekend that’s for sure. It started out with a trip me and my family took Thursday. We went to see a stage production of Charlottes Web. It was really great. I thought it was going to be rather silly, since the entire place was filled up with 6 & 7 year olds when we got there. But it wasn’t all that bad. I actually enjoyed it. Along with my 9 year old brother, and my 15 year old sister, who laughed at the character of Templeton, and cried when Charlotte died.

After the play was over we decided to go eat at Mickey D’s for lunch. While eating my mom decided to that we were going to go on to our local menonite bulk store. It was such a lovely trip. We ended up having to take a detour due to a bridge repair, but it was so nice. We were able to enjoy some beautiful scenery and good quality time together. Thank-you Lord!

After purchasing our fresh milk and bread from the bulk store, we then decided to precede home. But we still had one more surprise in store. A stop at a local antique shop. I had never been in one before, and was amazed at the amount of items they had. They had so many nice things. If I ever get married and get a house of my own, I will go there to get everything to decorate. I love old looking things.

I did go ahead and get a headstart on that though. I purchased a set of dishes and cups for only $10. I was so happy. They are so pretty too. They’re white with little blue flowers along the egdes, and a silver trim. I’m wanting to start a hope chest, and this seemed like a great way to get one going. Now I just have to work on the chest. Oh Daddy!!

Friday was house cleaning and laundry. Since I am curently unemployed, I am trying to keep busy by helping my mom out with the housework. I don’t mind though. I actually enjoy it. It’s alot of work, but its enjoyable to me to help out my family. It means that I have one, and that I am thankful for.

Daddy was home Saturday, so yard work was in the forecast for our homestead. Him and my brother stayed busy constructing our strawberry tier all day. (Can’t wait for those to come up.) Me and my mom cleaned up around the yard and kept everyone fed and hydrated, while my sister cleaned up her dogs’ pen. Bedtime could not come fast enough that day.

Yesterday was church and rest day. It’s so nice to not work on Sundays. I can sit through church and not be worrying about putting up with peoples attitudes that afternoon. I am able to fully concentrate on the sermon being preached and on God’s word.

Well, I need to go now. I need to take some oatmeal cookies out of the oven. I also need to start getting ready for class this evening. I have another test! Yikes!

So, until next time, I pray that you have a wonderful day in the Lord! Thanks for stopping by!

Want to Stop Shivering, and A Job

Good day friends and family! I pray that you are all having a wonderful day in the Lord. Its a cold one today in my neck of the woods. The temperature is only 35 with a windchill of about 29. Can anyone say BRRR… Oh how I want springtime to come. But then again, right after spring is summer, and 90 degree weather. So maybe I can stand this weather a bit longer. I just want to stop shivering is all.

Well, its been an interesting week to say the least. I’ve had school, church, went to the beach, lost my job, and have been busy helping my mom with the household cleaning. Wait just a second, you’re wondering, lost your job. Yeap. You heard me right. I am currently unemployed.

I guess it was kinda expected for me. I mean the owners health wasn’t all that great, and they had mentioned closing down the place once before, but it still comes as a shocker to me. The worst part of all was the fact that they did not even inform me of them shutting it down. I just went in last Tuesday and the sign beside the road said "Closed, For Sale or For Lease".

I didn’t really expect them to close it down so soon though. They hadn’t really made any mention of it in about a month. I understand they cannot let the info get out into the community too soon. But I don’t understand why they couldn’t have just called me. I mean that was my job, my livelyhood. I busted my tail for them almost everyday for 3 years, and they didn’t even have the respect for me to let me know I was out of a job.

But the Lord knows what he is doing. He has everything in control. Like my mom said, he never shuts one door without opening another. I just pray that as soon I finish my OA class, I will be able to find a job. Preferably within a good Christian enviroment. He knows what he is doing, Amen!

Well, even though I do not have a job currently, I am not without work. I’ve taken it upon myself to help my mom completly reorganize this entire house. I started out with last week with scrubbing one of the bathrooms top to bottom. That’s something I didn’t particularly like doing. Showers can be scarry at times. Especaily when you haven’t scrubbed them in about a month. But it wasn’t that bad.

This week I will clean and dust all the shelves and cabinets. Hopefully this will cut down on some of the allergy problems my little brother is experiencing.

Mama even treated us a trip to the beach Friday. We have been wanting to go for so long, but were not able due to my working all the time. It was so nice Friday. The temperature was 70 and it was bright and sunny. The water was so beautiful. It had this beautiful green color to it you only see during the winter. And the air smelled so good. It was such a peacful way to forget everything.

Saturday was a lazy day. I did absolutley nothing all day. It was the first time for one of those in a good long while. I layed around and watched my Waltons and Christy DVDs. It was so nice to not have to go anywhere or do anything. It will probably be the last time I do that for a long while.

Sunday was church. I do enjoy going to church. I love hearing our pastors sermons and being around other Christians. And what was so nice about yesterday, I didn’t have to go to work right afterwards. Its was so nice to come home and spend time with my family on the Lord’s day.

Well, I need to go now. I need to do a bit of studying before heading off to class this evening. I pray that you have a wonderful day in the Lord! Thanks for stopping by!

A Busy and Unplanned Weekend

Good day friends and family! I pray that you are all having a wonderful day in the Lord. Its a chilly day in my part of NC. The temperature is about 40 degrees here. BRRR!!! The sun is out though, so its not all that bad. I just can’t wait until spring though.

It was a busy weekend for me. I had to work as usual. But not as much as usual. I told my boss Wednsday that I would need to leave work Saturday at 12 so I could go to the church and help put up the flowers for the month. She said that was fine, and I left it at that. Well when I arrived at work Saturday my boss asked me if I wanted to get off at 10. She said that the other girl wanted to work a bit more and that I could go home if I wanted. I said that would be great and I left at 10.

Well, I was thinking I was going to be able to go home and get a nap in before I needed to be at the church. I thought my family would be gone by then. They were planning on being at a local historical reenactment by 10. But when I got home they were still there. I was glad. That meant I was able to go with them. Thank-you Lord. I got to spend some time with my family.

We had a good time at the revolutionary war reenactment of a local battle. They had live history camps and weapon demonstrations. But I have to say my favorite part was watching my younger brother.

They had a bunch of little boys all dressed up in colonial attire, running around the field and earthworks playing the war. Well when they saw my younger brother wearing his tri-corn hat and carrying his dummi gun they asked him to join in. He was a bit shy at first and said no. But we all knew he really wanted to.

Well, after watching them run around and playing for a few minutes, he finally joined into the battle. It was lots of fun to watch. They had all these young boys running around reenacting the battle of M. C. themselves. They even had the two sides divided up by the patriots and loyalists. I think they were the main show. Everyone was stopping to watch them. What really added a special effect to the war was the fife and drum core playing right behind them. It was really neat.

Well we had to leave sooner than we would have prefered due to the fact I need to be at the church by 1 p.m. So as a soon as I got home I had to leave again. When I got to church I got straight to work with Ms. J. She is so talented with flower arranging. She can take old boring arrangements and bring them to life again, no problem. She is teaching me so much.

She’s also an easy person to talk to. I like that alot. I have always had a hard time at talking with anyone. Even simple things such as shaking hands or saying hello are diffucult for me.I’m trying to get over that one step at a time. With the Lord’s help its becoming easier. So I am so glad the Lord has sent someone into my lfe to talk to.

But I took the opportunity of our church oyster roast, that followed the flower arranging, to speak with different people in the church. I went around to the different tables and sat with different people. I may have not done much talking, but just getting out of my comfort zone and sitting with different people was a huge step for me. I was nervous, but it wasn’t that bad. I ate myself some delicious oysters and had some good fellowship with good Christian people.

Sunday was church and work. The sermon was on love. 1 Corinthians teaches that love does not behave unseemly, it does not want to please itself, and is not easily provoked. When you display true love you will not be thinking of yourself, but of others. Only when you show these traits can love be shown.

Well, I need to go study for class this evening. I have a major test on Wedsday. Yikes!!! I still don’t have half of the terms memorized.

Hope you a have a great day! Thanks for stopping by!

P.S. Thanks to everyone who left great ideas on eating healthy. I am trying to put them to use now. THANK YOU!!!!!!

A Friday the 13th, Full of Blessings

Good day friends and family! I pray that you are all having a wonderful day in the Lord. It’s a gorgeous Friday the thirteenth here in my part of NC. The sun is shining brightly and the temperature is about 67. Absolutley perfect. You can tell spring is on it’s way. Thank-you Lord!

Well, today has been a great day for me. It was so nice at work today. I had to go in a bit early, due to a church group coming in as soon as we open. But I didn’t mind. I was a bit nervous about this group though. Some of the churches in this area, as you can tell from previous posts, aren’t that friendly.

But this one was so nice! They were all so kind and friendly. Each of them thanked me and the cooks for such good service. None of the group were rude or hateful. They displayed a true Christians attitude. I am so thankful, to the Lord, that there are some churches that do display the kind of attitude they are supposed to. Unfortunatley, I don’t see this too often anymore.

After the group left, the rest of the day was smooth sailing. I ended up making a great amount of tips for a weekday. Guess what also? I got a raise! I asked one of my bosses about a possible one the other day. I really didn’t think they were going to give me one. But I came in this morning, and my other boss came over to me and said, how about $1.50 more? I said yes ma’m!

God is so good! He always knows what I need and when I need it. All I have to do is wait on Him to do it.

School has been going really well. I had my first test on Wednsday night. I made a 98 on it! I was so happy. Thank you Lord for helping me.

Well, I need to go now. I need to get my room cleaned up. I also need to study a bit too. I think I’ll study while I’m giving myself a foot soak. My parents gave me a footspa for Christmas, and I love it. It’s so nice to enjoy after a day at work. Thanks mama and daddy! Love ya’ll!

Hope you have a great day in the Lord! Thanks for stopping by!

P.S. The superstition of Friday the thirteenth being bad luck, has been debunked by me. It has been a wonderful day for me. I don’t believe in superstion anyway though. God is the author of everything!

Too Funny!

Here’s a cute and funny story I just found on the web. It certainly lightens the mood from my last post. Hope you enjoy it.

There was a man who one day didnt feel like going to church so he decided to go hunting instead.

He was out in the bush when he was aproched from behind by a bear. He dropped his gun by accident but didnt bother to pick it up.

He ran for his life. Weaving in and out the trees with the bear on his trail. Curving around a tree he triped over its root.

He looked up and the bear looked down. The bear was about to strike at him. He put his hands together and prayed:

"Dear lord, Please let this bear be a Christian."

The bear sat down on its bum and held the mans hands, closed his eyes and said: "Dear lord, Thank-you for the food that I am about to recieve."

Hope you have a great day! Thanks for stopping by!

A Pretty Good Week So Far

Good day friends and family! I pray that you are all having a wonderful day in the Lord. It’s quite chilly here in my part of NC. The temperature has only reached about 40, along with a bad wind chill.

But guess what!? It snowed again! I could hardly believe it. Snow, twice in one year for us. It’s almost a miracle. I woke up this morning, got ready for work, and then walked into the living room, then to the dining room. I then looked out our back door, and there it all was, big, fat, fluffy flakes falling softly to the ground. It was so gorgeous. I really wanted to stay home and play in it, but, my responsibilities come first.

It only snowed about a half-inch. By 10:30, it had stopped completley. Then the sun came out. By 12:30, it was all gone. That’s so sad to me. I didn’t even get to make a snowball. Oh well, maybe the Lord will see fit and send us a blizzard with a foot. You never know.

I don’t have to go to class this evening. My teacher called about 10am and told me they were not holding any evening classes. Even though I enjoy my class, I’m sorta glad. It means I get to go to church. I always enjoy Wednsday night services. It breaks up the monotony of the week, and I learn so much on Wednsday nights. Our pastor is really good at breaking down scriptures, and he does this especially on Wednsdays.

Work has been a bit rough of late. I’ve had to put up with alot of rude people this past few weeks. I don’t really no why either. It just seems that people are getting worse and worse. Even people who call themselves Christians, are being as mean and hateful as ever. I really had a rough time on Sunday.

I go in to work on Sundays right after church for two hours. By the time I get there most of the local churches have begun to arrive. So, I went in Sunday afternoon and come to find out, I am the only waitress working the floor. The other girl called in and said she wasn’t able to come in that day. Okay, that’s fine. I thought I could handle it. Oh no, this just happened to be the busiest Sunday we have had in the longest time.

It seemed like everyone in the world had to come in this one particular day. It was chaos. I felt like running away and never going back. This was really true after one incident in particular. There is this one church that come in every Sunday. This church doesn’t have the best reputation around the waitresses. They are so rude and mean when something doesn’t go right. They do not take the time to be the witnesses they are supposed to be, to put it simply.

Anyway, they come in and sit down and I take there order. Everthings okay, so far. Well some how amidst the chaos, one family from the church, order gets lost. I did not realize this until the family stops me and asks "where is my food?". I said," Let me go check". Now mind you I have about fifteen other tables I am trying to please also. So I go and check on the order, and they tell me the order was lost. So I rewrite it down, and the cook starts preparing it. I then must break the news.

I walk over to the the table and tell them the order had been lost, and the cook is just now starting on it. He than starts shaking his head and you can see the anger in his eyes. He then starts ranting and raving, this is why I never want to come here anymore, ya’ll can never get anything done right, I don’t ever want to come here again. I said I’m sorry, and then I ran.

I ran through the kitchen, and to the bathroom, crying as I was going. My boss saw and she followed me. I ran to the bathroom and tried to regain my composure. The day was so emotionally draining.

I then came out and my boss asked me what was wrong. I relayed the story to her, and she has a fit about how in the world could they treat someone that way, and aren’t they supposed to be Christians?! She also asked if she wanted me to let her go out and speak to them about it. I said no, but I would rather not serve them the rest of the day. She said that was fine and waited on them herself the rest of the time.

It just upsets me so much, the way they call themselves Christians, and act the way they do. They are supposed to be setting an example to the lost, not behaving just like them. It’s a shame.

Help me Lord to pray for them, no matter what.

But other than that, it has been a relatively good week. The Lord sent us some snow, and I am able to got to church this evening

Well, I need to go now. My chickens are getting hungry. I’m sure there water needs to be broken up also.

Have a great day! Thanks for stoppin by!

So Excited! Thank-you LORD!

Hello friends and family! I pray that you are all having a wonderful day in the Lord. It has been a busy start of the week for me. I finally got to start my optometric assistant class last night. And so far I LOVE it!

Even though we only covered the basics of what we are going to learn last nite, I really think this is where I am supposed to be. I was so scared before I went into the class though. Take that back, I was TERRIFIED! I know I should not have been, but I was.

It was not starting the class that worried me, but going to a place where I’ve never been and don’t know anyone. Things like that bother me for some reason. I guess it that shyness in me creeping up. But after I said alot of prayers, I did calm down a bit. And it wasn’t that bad after all. Everyone was so kind and the instructor was really nice. I felt like I was supposed to be there. It was so exciting! I can’t wait to go back this week.

But I did want to share with you the job duties of an optometric assistant in case you are wondering.

Test patients vision. Assist in frame selection. Instruct patients in contact lens handling. Inform patients of what is involved in exam and treatment procedures. Lab work. Keeping inventories. Maintaining equipment. Serving as receptionist. Insurance filing. - The specific duties of optometric assistants are determined by the employing optometrist.

When I finish the course, I will be given a certificate that I will present to a future employer to say I have some experience in this field. After I am employed for one year I will take a state exam in order to become certified. From their I can work up to become an optometric technician, who completes more complex aspects of the job.

I can not wait until I finish. Right now I am praying that the Lord will work it out that I will have a job soon after completion. But only if it is His will. If its not, I’ll have to go from there and see what He has planned out. Either way, I am so excited! Thank-you Lord for the opportunity to take this class.

Well, I need to go now. I pray that you have a wonderful day in the Lord. Thanks for stopping by!

Woo-Hoo! It's Snowing!!!

Good day to you friends and family! I pray that you are all having a wonderful day in the Lord! Guess what?! There are two inches of snow on the ground right now and it is still falling! Woo Hoo! I can hardly believe it! Snow, in SE North Carolina! We never get snow like this.

It’s so beautiful. Right now I am looking out my back door watching it softly fall to the ground. Everything is covered in a blanket of white. The trees, the porch, the coop, the dog (not sure why he won’t go into his house), just everything!

I know that probably alot of you don’t see the big deal of receiving snow, but for us, it’s a really big event. This is the first time it has snowed in probably 5 years. And everything around here is shut down. People don’t know how to deal, or drive with it.

I only went to work for about an hour this morning. I woke up about 6:15 and it was just raining a bit. I knew the weather forcast was calling for it to start snowing about 8 or 9. well, sure enough, about 45 minutes after I arrived at work, it started out with a mix. Ten minutes later the phone rang. Just as I thought it would be, it was my dear mother telling me to get home before the bridge froze over.

I hated leaving like that, but if I didn’t get home right then, I would have been stranded. The bridge I have to travel over freezes very easily, so you defintley do not want to be traveling over it.

I figured today I would take the opportunity to do a bit of sewing, and a bit of cleaning. After lunch me, my mom, my brother, maybe my sister are going to take scenic walk through our woods. I may try to build a small snowman, and even have a snowball fight with my brother and sister.

Well, I have to go now. I hope you have a great day in the Lord!

Shycountrygal

P.S. I went up to the chicken coop a bit earlier to see how they were enjoying it. My two pet birds Chocolate and Dega were huddle in the corner trying to ignore all the fuss of it all. But the bad children( Our nine redstar laying hens), however were standing out in the middle of their yard eating and chasing the flakes. Oh well!

Sunday Morning Memories

Good Day friends and family. I pray that you are all having a wonderful day in the Lord. I’m sitting here at the computer in our family living room, smelling the delicious breakfast my mama is preparing for us. She has made link sausage, hot cinnamon rolls, and hot orange rolls. Oh how I love smelling those delicious rolls on Sunday morning.

It takes me back to when I was really little. She would get up every Sunday morning and fix us this breakfast treat. We would all then sit down and enjoy it together as a family before heading off to church. Growing up is hard to do.

Well,I thought I would share with you this Psalm I read this morning. Its comes from Psalms 150. Hope you enjoy it and take it to heart.

1Praise ye the LORD. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power.

2Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness.

3Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp.

4Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs.

5Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals.

6Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD.

Well, I gota go now. I’m going to enjoy this family time together this morning. Hope you have a wonderful day in the Lord.

Breaking Up the Monotony, and A Leson in Humility

Good day friends and family! I pray that you are all having a wonderful day in the Lord. It is absolutly freezing in my part of NC today. The temperature only reached 32 today. Now I know to you Yankees and mid-westerners that’s probably pretty warm. But for my southern blood, I ain’t used to this. It’s freezin out there!

Well, its been a fairly enjoyable week for me. I’ve been busy with work and the usual goings on of life. I will surely be glad when I can get a job doing something else, besides waiting tables. Now, don’t take me wrong, I do enjoy waiting tables sometimes, but other times I HATE it!

It’s not the serving people that bothers me. I think waiting tables is an excellent way to teach someone humility. You have to bring people( that are sometimes hateful)their food to them and make sure they are happy and content. Also, cleaning other people’s messes will greatly teach one a servants heart, with alot of prayer of course. The Lord has taught me so much through it (He’s still teaching me).

But dealing with people who just insist on complaing about every little thing, are rude and hateful as possible, sayin their food is not done fast enough for them, or the tea tastes funny, try my patience greatly. I believe the Lord puts people in my way like that just to see how I will react.

Unfortunatley, my flesh gets in the ways at times. I want to be as mean and hateful right back. But I need to remember each time that happens, they are an unsaved soul, that needs the Lord and His grace. So, Lord help me to remember that each time someone is rude to me, they need to see You in me.

But I do enjoy the job at times. I have met some very kind people, that I have so enjoyed getting to know. Their mostly retired people, and can at times have some very interesting stories. I love seeing those certain ones come in the door.

I didn’t just work though this week. Yesterday I was able to break up the monotony. My parents went to get their taxes done, so they dropped me and my sister off at the mall. I was able to purchase myself a skirt at JC Penney for only $11! I thought that was a pretty good deal.

I also got myself a new purse. It was a leather giraffe print one. (Not real girrafe by the way. I am against using animals from the wild like that for fashion purposes). My mom is not too thrilled with it. She actually called it ugly! But I think it is kinda cute. It surely is different from anything I have ever bought. That is why I bought it though. I just wanted to do something really different. I enjoy doing that every now and then.

After my parents finished up with their buisness, my dad went back to work and my mom took us out to eat. That doesn’t happen often, by the way. We ate at Chick-Fil-A. I love their food!

Following lunch, we went ice-skating at the local rink. I love to ice-skate. I’m not very good at it, but I know how to stop and go. ; ) One day I would love to take lessons so I could perform the basics a little better.

I skated so much that when I returned home I was exhasuted! But it was great day. I came home and crashed. There was alot that needed to be done, but I was so tired, I said I’ll do it tommorow. Shame on me! ; )

Well, I need to get up and finish cleaning. I also need to go make sure the chickens will be warm enough tonight. It’s supposed to be 9 degrees tonight. We turned on a light in the coop last night so they would be warm enough. I’ll bet you anything the bad children (our red star hens) stayed up all night. Chocolate and Dega (my two pet chickens) were probably fussing for them to keep it down so they could get their beauty rest.

Well, I pray that you have a great day in the Lord. Stay warm!

Job Update

Good day friends and family! I pray that you are all having a wonderful day in the Lord. I thought I would drop by today and give a follow-up on my job situation that I spoke of two days ago.

I did some praying about it, and right now I believe the Lord wants me to continue working where I am currently. I did not think it wise to go somewhere else at this time, because I would have to ask for time off as soon as I got there.

I do intend on taking the optometric assistant course, Lord-willing.The class starts at the end of this month and lasts until the middle of March. I am praying that the Lord will allow me to find a job soon after completion of the course.

But all I have to do right now is to wait on Him to prepare me for a possible job in this field. But I am looking forward to the start of the class. I used to want to be an optometrist, so this is the next best thing. I do think I will enjoy it.

So the Lord is working!

Well, I hope you have a great day!

Another Day Gone By

Good day friends and family! I pray that you are all having a wonderful day in the Lord. The weather here in my neck of the woods has been quite pleasant. The temperature today was in the high 60′s and it was partly cloudy. It almost made me think spring is here. It wil be here soon enough though.

This past week has been a bit chaotic for me at work. The former manager stepped down last week and a new one has taken over. The current one isn’t actually new though. She was the manager for the past two yeras of my working there. I enjoy working with the new manager though. She’s a sweet old lady that makes sure that everyone gets their work done and nothing is left over for the next shift.

But before the old manger stepped down, I gave her my two weeks notice of departure. I was going to leave because of the way she was handling the buisness. I was always the one stuck cleaning up everyone elses mess. But now that the new manager has taken the place back over, I don’t know that I want to leave.

I’ve actually enjoyed working there this past weekend. Everything was so calm and quiet! Everybody did as they were supposed to, and got along really well. So I’ve been praying, Lord, what would you have me to do.

My current boss really wants me to stay on, and I told her I would stay one more week till she found someone to replace me. But, if I go somewhere else, I know I will never have someone that is so flexible with my hours. I love the hours that I am working now! I work enough to pay my bills and still have enough time to spend with my family.

But I know I am going to need a better job in the future. But it goes back to the fact that I don’t really know what I want to do with my life. Or better yet, what God wants me to do.

I was looking in a local community college catalog today and noticed they are offering a class training you to be an optometric assitant. That sorta sounds appealing to me. I need to call down there tommorow and find out if there are any prerequisites for it. I still need to pray about it though.

Last night our preacher taught from the text of Titus 2. This is where Paul tells Titus to teach the older women how to teach the younger women. Such as being chaste, keepers at home, love their children, obedients to their own husbands. And that part confuses me a bit.

I know what the Bible says about women working outside the home. It pretty much says they are not supposed to. But what about today? I have to work in order to drive a car. My parents can’t afford my extra insurance each month. And I need my liscence in case of emergencies and such.

Also, what happens if something happens to my parents and I have to have a full-time job in order to take care of my living needs. Working at a restaruant that only pays 110 dollars a week, ain’t gonna get it. And I don’t see any marriage possiblities in the near future either.

I guess I just have to realize that God know my situation and He is going to provide what I need and when I need it. I need to start some sort of classes soon, because the longer I wait, the harder it is going to be to get back into schooling.

So Lord, help me to trust in you no matter what! You know my situation in life and you have put me here for a purpose. Show me that purpose.

I hope you have a great day in the Lord!

Resting and Praising

Good day friends and family! I pray that you are all having a wonderful day in the Lord. It sure has been a peacful one for me. A recovery day you may say. I absolutley love Christmas, but all the festivities can wear a person down.

My Christmas was an enjoyable one. It was spent with family at home. Anytime we are all able to be together is a blessing.

Christmas eve was spent cooking and cleaning. My mom made her famous peanut-butter and orange candies. They are sooo… delicious! There is no way you can eat just one. I certainly ate one too many. Thats what new years resolutions are for though.

About two that afternoon me and my sister loaded up, and headed to the local Chinese take-out restaruant to pick up our supper. Normally we get pizza, but this year we decided to do something different. I’m sure glad we did! I love chinese food.

After we ate supper we enjoyed the rest of our evening resting, and enjoying a favorite christmas movie, The Nativity. It was so nice to have the whole family together and enjoying time together.

Christmas morning dawned for us at about 8 o’clock.( I remember the times it used to start out at 6 am. Everyone’s older now, and wants their sleep) When everyone was finally awakened and breakfast ate. It was time for presents. My little brother, age nine, could wait no longer! I recieved a foot spa( which is going to be put to good use), a puzzle, some candycanes, and the boardgame Life.

I also bought a few things for my family as well. I gave my sister a fuzzy pink bathrobe, that she has yet to take off, some shoes and dishcloths for my mom, a game of dominoes for my brother, and a Ford hat for my dad. Everyone enjoyed their gifts, no matter what they recieced.

But the greatest gift I recieved could not be put underneath the tree. That was the time spent with my family. Eating Christmas dinner together, watching our favorite Christmas shows, and the conversations we made amongst ourselves. Those are priceless memories that I will always cherish, no matter where life may take me.

Lord, thank-you for giving me the family you did. We may get on each others nerves at time, but we love each other very much. I could not ask for anything more.

Thank-you also Lord for sending your son to die for our sins. He was and still is the true reason for the season. He has given us everything we will ever need.

I pray that you have a wonderful day in the Lord!

Dead Rooster? Special Surprise? Goodies Galore?

Good day friends and family! I pray that you are all having a wonderful day in the Lord. It feels like Christmas outside today. The temperature is 40 degrees. BRRRR!!! Unfortunatley the weatherman says its supposed to warm up in the next two days. It’s supposed to be 71 on Christmas. That stinks. I want the weather to be what it is today, then. But oh well! The Lord knows what we need best of all.

Even though it’s cold outside today, its bright and sunny. The sun shines really bright and warm in the backyard. So much, that is where my Rhode Island Red rooster has been sunbathing today. I love watching him lay there and warm up in the sun beside the backsteps. He almost looks dead at times. But all have to do is say "Zale", and he jumps straight up.

It’s not very sunny this time of year at the coop. That is where we keep all the "bad children" (the name my mom gave our flock of red stars because they are so active and mischievous), and my two pet hens, Chocolate and Dega. So today I decided to let them out the coop a bit earlier than normal so they would have an opportunity to go and sun themselves. Well I decided to run back to the house, due to how cold it was and when I turned around they were all flying after me! I guess my excitement to get inside rubbed off on them and made them more anxious to run free! It was a funny site to see. I love my chickens and each one’s personalitys.

This past weekend was a considerably quiet one. I am always so thankful for the quiet times to relax. Me, my brother, and my sister stayed home while my parents went out Saturday evening to do their Christmas shopping. I enjoyed myself. I watched the Waltons Christmas show, and my bro and sis played games with each other.

Sunday was a wonderful day. The preaching at church was encouraging, and we got a great surprise! A family that used to attend our church and then had to leave due to the Lord’s calling came for a visit. I was so happy to see them. I had become friends with their son and daughter while they were here and have missed them. It’s been over a year since I have seen them. So it was so nice to see them again.

Today I am kinda just "chilling out". I know, I’m so funny? Really, I spent the morning cleaning and this afternoon, I get to make sugar cookies with the family. Last year I missed this treat for some reason I don’t even remeber now. I don’t intend on missing it this year however. Tommorow and Christams Eve we get to make all kinds of candies and sweets. It’s the only time of year we get this amount of junk food.

I just thought of something. I think I now know why they put Christmas and New Years together. Because we need some sort of motivation to lose all that weight from all the sweets we consume during Christmas. Oh well!

I pray you have a wonderful day in the Lord!

In the Fullness of Time

Good day friends and family! I pray that you are all having a wonderful day in the Lord. It’s quite a warm day in my part of the world. It’s about 70. But that is normal for us. I sure pray it become cold before next week. I love it when it is cold the week of Christmas. But any weather is fine. The Lord always knows best in everything, even the weather.

I am so thankful that it is Monday. Most people dread them, but I enjoy them. It is my one day off from work. I work pretty much evryday now, except Mondays. I am thankful for more hours now. That means, that is if it’s the Lord’s will, I can start some schooling soon.

I graduated this past May, and I am still not quite sure what to do about furthering my education. I don’t think that it would be right for me to go to a university for four years and get a degree in something I’m not really enthused about. I would like to possibly go to a technical college or community college and get training in a particular job. But the thing is, I really don’t know what I want to do. I keep praying for the Lord to show me, but He hasn’t seen fit to show me what direction to go in yet.

I am really going through a time of testing right now. I keep praying for the Lord to show me the direction, but the only answer I seem to be getting is wait. It’s like the sermon the pastor preached at church yesterday. The main text came from Galatians 4:4- But when the fulness of time was come, God sent forth His Son, made of a woman, made under the law.

In this particular verse Paul is saying that the God appointed a specific time for Jesus to be sent to this earth to save our sins. He knew the exact time that would be perfect for the spreading of the gospel. And it was a perfect time in history!

In this point in history, the Romans were the ruling power of the entire known world. You’ve probably heard the saying that all roads lead to Rome. And this was true. That being true, the Romans had protection for anyone traveling on the roads. Also, most of the roads were connected, making it easier and safer for travel. This helped to ensure the spread of the gospel to the world.

So, the Lord appoints times for everything. From my life, to the birth of Christ. He knows best. I just have to wait, and not be so impatient. Which is very diffucult for me. In the meantime I need to continue serving Him by helping my family, and serving in the church.

Well, I have to go now. it’s time for lunch and mama is not going to wait. Later on today I’ll write about my weekend Christmas shopping and the church Christmas party.

I pray you have a great day in the Lord!

Praise HIM First, Then Dance, Sing, and Shop

Good Morning friends and family! It’s 2:30 am and a wonderful day! It’s Black Friday and I am on my way to the mall! Right now I am dancing and singing around to Christmas music!( I am trying to wake up)

I am so excited about going shopping! I love to shop! Especially when there are great deals! Just thought I would let everyone know!

Before I do anymore singing or dancing. I need to share with you a Psalms. Because we are to put the LORD first in evrything that we do, no mater what!

1 Rejoice in the LORD, O ye righteous:

for praise is comely for the upright.

2 Praise the LORD with harp:

sing unto him with the psaltery and an instrument of ten strings.

3 Sing unto him a new song;

play skilfully with a loud noise.

4 For the word of the LORD is right;

and all his works are done in truth.

5 He loveth righteousness and judgment:

the earth is full of the goodness of the LORD.

6 By the word of the LORD were the heavens made;

and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.

7 He gathereth the waters of the sea together as a heap:

he layeth up the depth in storehouses.

8 Let all the earth fear the LORD:

let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him.

9 For he spake, and it was done;

he commanded, and it stood fast.

10 The LORD bringeth the counsel of the heathen to nought:

he maketh the devices of the people of none effect.

11 The counsel of the LORD standeth for ever,

the thoughts of his heart to all generations.

12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD;

and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.

13 The LORD looketh from heaven;

he beholdeth all the sons of men.

14 From the place of his habitation he looketh

upon all the inhabitants of the earth.

15 He fashioneth their hearts alike;

he considereth all their works.

16 There is no king saved by the multitude of a host:

a mighty man is not delivered by much strength.

17 A horse is a vain thing for safety:

neither shall he deliver any by his great strength.

18 Behold, the eye of the LORD is upon them that fear him,

upon them that hope in his mercy;

19 to deliver their soul from death,

and to keep them alive in famine.

20 Our soul waiteth for the LORD:

he is our help and our shield.

21 For our heart shall rejoice in him,

because we have trusted in his holy name.

22 Let thy mercy, O LORD, be upon us,

according as we hope in thee.

Psalms 33

Enjoy your day, and may you remember to put the LORD in it FIRST!!!!

Turkey Day and Turkey Facts

Good day friends and family! I pray that you are all having a wonderful day in the Lord. It certainly has been a chilly one in my part of the world. The temperature only reached a frigid 45 degrees. We even topped it off with a wind chill in the thirties. We are not used to that type of weather around here. I would not mind the cold so much if it were snowing, but it certaily doesn’t look like its going to do that any time soon. But I am thankful for the cool weather none the less.

Well, we all know what next Thursday is. Its Thanksgiving! I am so excited about that day. I believe, that Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. The smell of pumpkin pie in the oven, the creamy mashed potatos, and the plump turkey, roasting in the oven. I’m making myself hungry thinking about it!

But before you dress and carve that oh, so wonderful fowl, I thought I would give you some fun and interesting facts on Ole’Tom. I hope you enjoy them!

At one time, the turkey and the bald eagle were each considered as the national symbol of America. Benjamin Franklin was one of those who argued passionately on behalf of the turkey. Franklin felt the turkey, although "vain and silly", was a better choice than the bald eagle, whom he felt was "a coward".
According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, more than 45 million turkeys are cooked and eaten in the U.S. at Thanksgiving—that’s one sixth of all turkeys sold in the U.S. each year. American per capita consumption of turkeys has soared from 8.3 pounds in 1975 to 18.5 pounds in 1997. Ten years later, the number has dropped slightly in 2007 to 17.5 pounds.
In 2007, more than 260 million turkeys were raised with an average liveweight per bird of 28 pounds with nearly 6 billion pounds of turkey processed. By contrast, in 1970, only 105 million birds were raised with an average liveweight of 17 pounds and 1.5 billion pounds processed.
In 2002, retail sales of turkey was approximately $3.6 billion. Forecasts for 2008 expect sales to reach $4.3 billion.
Age is a determining factor in taste. Old, large males are preferable to young toms (males) as tom meat is stringy. The opposite is true for females: old hens are tougher birds.
A turkey under sixteen weeks of age is called a fryer, while a young roaster is five to seven months old.
Turkeys are the only breed of poultry native to the Western Hemisphere.
Turkeys have great hearing, but no external ears. They can also see in color, and have excellent visual acuity and a wide field of vision (about 270 degrees), which makes sneaking up on them difficult. However, turkeys have a poor sense of smell (what’s cooking?), but an excellent sense of taste.
Domesticated turkeys cannot fly. Wild turkeys, however, can fly for short distances at speeds up to 55 miles per hour. They can also reach speeds of 25 miles per hour on the ground.
Turkeys sometimes spend the night in trees.
Turkeys can have heart attacks: turkeys in fields near the Air Force test areas over which the sound barrier was broken were known to drop dead from the shock of passing jets
The ballroom dance known as the Turkey Trot was named for the short, jerky steps a turkey makes.
I pray that you have a wonderful day in the Lord! Stay Warm!

Fishing, Hunting, Worrying

Welcome friends and family! Sorry I have not posted in a while. I have been busy this past week and weekend. This is the first day I have been able to just chill out and rest. but it has been an enjoyable week, and I can’t complain about that.

So what have I been up to since last week? Well last Wednesday, me and my family went on our annual Spot fishing trip. I love this yearly trip. Its a great opportunity to spend time with family, and to enjoy Gods wonderful creation, the ocean. This years trip was a great success. We caught 150 fish. That was just the amount that we needed to give our church a fish fry. Thank-you Lord for always meeting needs!

We all crashed when we got home Thursday nite. It was exhausting, but so much fun. Friday was spent cleaning the house before I went to work. I spent most of the nite there preparing for Saturday morning. It was the start of hunting season.

You see, the restaraunt I work at is pretty dead throughout the year, but come October, its rockin. We are located in a remote area that is surrounded by 3 or 4 hunting clubs, plus heavily wooded forests. So its prime hunting territory. I don’t mind the hunters so much. Most are kind and tip excellently. But there are those that need to watch their manners. Meaning. they need to stop hitting on the waitress. But thank the Lord, I haven’t had much of problem with that so far.

I was the only one waiting tables and running the register. So I made a great amount of tips. Although I thought I was gonna loose my mind for a while there. Especially when 8 tables decided to come in all at once. But with a lot of prayer and the Lords help, I was able to keep my calm. So it was not that bad a day after all.

Sunday was church day. I had a very encouraging Sunday school lesson. The topic was on trusting God and not worrying about anything. I have a severe problem with that. I worry about nearly evrything. From friends to work. But, I need to realize God is in control of everything and he will provide when He sees fit. He knows best what I need in my life right now.

Well, I think I’ll go enjoy the rest of the evening outdoors now. Its absolutle beautiful right now with the way the sun is setting on the autumn colors. I believe I will go take a long walk.

Until next time, may the Lord bless you and keep you.
