Pregnancy Update: Week 22

Running errands and talking on the phone,
I am pleasantly reminded that I am not alone.
Little tiny hands, a precious rounded knee,
pushing and twisting that no one can see.
Oh sweet child kicking up your heels,
it is our little secret that only I can feel.
I look forward to your birth,
when I can kiss your skin,
but for now I will just smile,
as I feel you play within.

How far along?
22 weeks

Baby is now the size of a:
Large grapefruit—about 14 ounces in weight, and nearly 8 inches from crown to rump.

Total weight gain:
Tuesdays midwife appointment showed a gain of 10 pounds total. It has been difficult at times to get used to those numbers on the scale, and even hearing remarks on how I am starting to show more (including "jokes" of being told I am looking chubby and getting a pooch). Weight gain is a VERY good thing in pregnancy, and VERY healthy when gained in moderation (which my midwife says I am doing very well with). And I accept and am even beginning to embrace it. :)

Sleep:
Sleep has been very good. I still wake up very early some days, and then go back to sleep after being awake for an hour or so. Which in turn has caused a need for afternoon naps... :D

Exercise:
Twice weekly weights, walking or prenatal cardio videos 3 days, and yoga in between.

Mood:
Not the best, I will admit. I have been in kind of a funk. You know, the feel sorry, poor me kind of mood. For some reason, outside of internet friendships, and immediate family, I have not felt as if there is any joy or excitement over our baby. There have been very few congrats or anything. Might be just me, but I just want to burst with joy and excitement all the time! :)

Cravings/Aversions:
I still have cravings for beef. But that has even subsided. And there have not really been any aversions either. I am pretty much enjoying all food these days. :)

Symptoms:
A tired feeling in my back muscles quite a bit. And allergies! Since becoming pregnant, I have become especially sensitive to previous allergens. I am told this can be normal for pregnant women. Who knew? :D

Movement:
Oh, I feel my sweet one everyday now, and LOVE every single kick and jump. I am pretty sure it is the best feeling in the world. Especially the kicking that starts when Justin is talking.  :)
Maternity Clothes:
All maternity jeans now. But that has been the only maternity specific item.

Worst Moment of the week:
It was kind of several moments. We have been moving furniture and such to make room for baby stuff. Well, on Saturday I stubbed my toe twice, dropped a two and half pound weight on my foot, and scraped my elbow while organizing my craft hutch. Yeah... ;)

Best Moment of the week:
Not fainting when getting blood drawn! :D

Gender:
Drum roll please...

Ahhhh!!! We are so excited to be having a little boy! I was hoping for a little boy. I have always said I want 10 little boys that look EXACTLY like Justin when he was little. :D

Before I go, I want to thank those of you that have sent me texts, Facebook messages, and commented showing concern for my absence. I have not intended to go so long in between posts. I would like to say it has been entirely due to being busy with school, but that is not the case.

I am not feeling the need or desire to blog as often anymore. It seems as if my brain has been shifting more to prepping for baby, and living daily life, than blogging. So, things will more than likely remain fairly quiet here. If you would like more frequent updates, please check out my Instagram page. I try to post there 3 times a week. :)

How has life been for you? Have you been in a great mood, or kind of a funk? What is the LORD teaching you at this time?

Have a wonderfully blessed day everyone! Thanks for stopping by!
Angel

  1. You look so good! It's amazing to see that little belly grow, and the feeling of baby kicks is so priceless! Just wait until you are able to start deciphering body parts! Congratulations on finding out you are having a boy. What a blessing! I am so happy for you.
And yes, we all know pregnancy weight gain is healthy and we are selfless in the giving of our bodies over to the miraculous process of growing a baby..... but seeing those numbers go up is SO. HARD. I really really struggled with it both of my pregnancies, especially this one as I am having twins and have been urged to gain more weight than before. I officially weigh more than my husband now! And my sister once joked how cute I was now that I am getting a "round pregnancy face"..... Yeah I about cried over that one. You look beautiful, and just know that it does all go back (for the most part), and the numbers do go back down to their normal place again if you take care of yourself postpartum, which I know you will :)

I wish I lived closer and could congratulate you every day, have tea with you and help you move furniture around so you don't stub your toe. :) Thank you so much for posting an update for us out-of-towners. You look so lovely! I bet each little kick and move lights up your day.
A boy! It's a boy!!!! Couldn't be happier for you and Justin!!! I can't wait to see what features he shares with you. Either way, he will be so adorable!!!
Do you have names picked out yet or will you keep it a surprise until after his birth?
Please let us know if there is anything we can do to bless you throughout the remainder of your pregnancy. And please enjoy this special, precious, prayed for, miraculous time!!! Don't let anything or anyone steal your joy! I love you dear friend, you are such an amazing gift from God with the most precious heart. I'm so glad we met through blogging all those years ago. Have a wonderful week!!!
    Sincerely, Jordan

  6. You look adorable and the reveal photo is so cute!!

In response to your question about what God's been teaching us: I have recently taken over as the youth Bible study leader at my church, which has been interesting! The questions the students have been posing are great, and preparing for my lessons always gets me thinking too. It's been a wonderful blessing to me, which was unexpected!

Well hello there! Thanks for stopping by! I LOVE to hear from you all out there. Just please remember to keep everything kind and Christ-like. In the words of that wise papa rabbit, "If you can't say something nice, don't say nothing at all". :)
